People who are good at their profession can usually explain things and are open to hearing your concerns and will review what you bring them and give you a reason of why they agree or disagree and then you as the pet owner can come to a logical decision after consulting with them on what to do with your pet. Respect is earned not granted by a title and it is earned by educating pet owners on how to better care for their pets and doing the right thing to keep them healthy which means to keep educating yourself if you are a professional and not only rely on what you learned in vet school but what is evolving passed school as medicine is ever changing. I think many do not continue educating themselves after school and become complacent in their jobs so when pet owners start to ask questions they get frustrated and cannot answer it because they simply do not know the answers. |
This is said very well.
There may be reasons that vets have become tired of explaining things (many clients don't care or maybe they feel that that's all they'd be doing alll day), but it is their job. IMO, if they don't love people and they are too busy to have discussions, then they may be in the wrong profession... And some are just insecure with their knowledge...
