That's why it can be why it's causing more of a reaction, compare the ingredients. If the ingredients are comparable, you might need to switch to a different protein type food..

California Natural (makes a few flavors) of limited ingredients.

Also, to help combat the poop eating add some digestive enzymes into the food.

One of my girls is very allergic to chicken! She gets red flamming lips and all around her eyes swell and drain.
I have now transitioned her to Primal raw and after some time with nutritional specialist Susan Davis, am rotating proteins. We rotate beef, lamb and venison and then sometimes rabbit (another brand) to help preventing another protein sensitivity.
My girl is so much better. Her skin is so much better and she rarely scratches or turns red.
