To tell you the truth, I have no idea. In fact, I never even heard of hydrometra until that day of her spay. She had her pre-op blood work which showed a slightly elevated BUN level, but not sure if that had anything to do with it. It was explained to me that even though she had fluid in her uterus, it was not infected, but left the way it was, could of, in time, become infected.

I really wanted a litter too, so I feel what you are saying, I would of had no way of knowing she had fluid build up . . .she didn't show any signs of a distended stomach or anything that would cause me alarm.
