I don't agree with the vet discharging him so soon after surgery. Katie was at the hospital for 3 days just to flush out her system first before sx and another 2 days after for observation. She had the catheder(sp?) so I didn't see how she peed in the 2 days after sx, but once we got home she was fine. The first day or so the urine was a little off colored (darker than usual) but the 2nd day was back to regular yellow.

Also male and female dogs usually get different kind of stones, so I don't know how much knowledge I have that may help. but, the doctor didn't xray after surgery? katie's did to show all stones were removed. What medications were given?
I believe they think it is the kind that does not show on xrays-I'm not sure though. he sent it out to a lab. He has a liver shunt so probably urate. they gave me metacam and Travadol. they also told me to continue giving him antibiotics that he was already on Cephadroxil and Baytril. They did put a catheter in before he came home & flushed it. the surgeon told me on saturday that straining will be normal for the next few days because the bladder would be swollen. Maybe yours had more time for the swelling to go down since they were hospitalized & monitored longer. I had no idea that he could stay longer. i just assumed when they discharge, it's a good time for them to go home. I didn't even question it. I hope he will be ok.
