First of all, I am very sorry for your loss. I am a breeder as well and I don't know what I would do if I ever lost a mom.
I think, if I were you, I would want to have a necropsy done on your poor little mom to see if it could give you any clue as to what was happening with her.
The only experience I have had with blood sugar and pregnancy was with a girl that we could not stabilize a low blood sugar about 1 week prior to her due date. Her main symptom was vomiting, every 5 minutes or so, she could keep nothing down, not even water. After 24 hours on a dextrose drip and not being able to get her sugars up, we took the pups by c-section at 56 days. Luckily all pups lived but that was not my main concern, it was for the mama. In our case, as soon as the pups were born her blood sugar levels returned to normal immediately after the c-section.
