While there is a standard, if ALL Yorkies met the standard, Westminster and all the other dog shows would be a very crowded place! Even with the most careful breeding, a small percentage (maybe 25%), will be good enough to be shown and even those great show dogs will still have faults according to the breed standard.
So many dogs, even those carefully bred, will not be good enough to be shown and those dogs are our pets. They will not meet the breed standards closely enough. Some will even have a fault regarding the size standard, just like those who have color faults, uneven toplines, floppy ears, etc. This does not mean they are not full bred Yorkies!
