Prednisone does have side effect with
LONG TERM use. I'm sure the steroid will only be for 5 or 10 days. That is not long term use. Make sure that you give him all of the proper dosage if this is what your vet started him on. You need to be weaned off this RX and it can be harmful to just stop. It is being used to combat the reaction that your Max had at the vet from the shot. The reason that it took so many sticks was the reaction that he had caused his veins to collapse. If you have questions you really need to call your vet and discuss this with him. Please do not make a decision about medications without proper knowledge of WHY this was prescribed for Max.
*Side note~all of my kids, my husband and my self have all been prescribed this drug for allergic reactions and asthma.
