All mine except Skyler who has very short legs use the door without a problem. I showed them a few times how the door opened and even held it open for them at first and they got the hang of it right away. No treats required. My doggy door leads to a fenced in deck and it is a great way for them to get fresh air when I can't take them for a walk. Hope that helps.
