If they are sleeping, bellys look filled out, shiny, warm and only really fuss and cry when Mom leaves..I say they are getting enough milk. If they nurse, act fussy and root for another nipple..they may be hungry...but I have never had a Mom go dry at 1 or 2 weeks..not even 3 or 4...milk may have lessened as pup grew...but there was ample...
Your vet is a world of encouragement...I am surprised he/she did not know how thsi milk thing works...even with human babies, the milk flows as they nurse, right...mom hears the baby cry and the milk lets down, baby nurse and milk lets down..dogs are no different.. |
