I have trained mine to go outside but he started in the xpen with the pee pad and his bed. When he started missing the pad it was time to take him outside and after a few treats and trips to the backyard, I can't get him to go inside anymore. I agree with a lot of what has already been said that it really depend on the dog and the owner. I had the same problem you're having with my shih tzu and was ready to give it back. I got him at 4 months old but, it took a lot of patience and the assistance of you Rottie to help him get it. He's 9 months know and I have no issues. Sometimes it takes using other pets to show them what they should be doing. That has worked for me.
Just have patience trust me he will eventually get it. Good luck!! |
See, each pup is different!
Wow, but 5 weeks old, that was super young to be away from its mom. If you didn't get it from a breeder or a pet store, did you get your pup from a rescue?
If you did, would you mind posting the name. There should be a warning against bad rescues too.
