Our Dany is a rescue we adopted this past February. She is believed to be a puppy mill/BYB pup due to her neglect and behaviors, but was found as a stray. She has come such a long way since then! She now runs across the lawn with Addie and Mia whereas before she was afraid to step on the green stuff. She plays with toys and eats treats, she goes up and down the stairs (getting her to do this was even harder than potty training her), and she wants to be held. She's about 7 years old. Her legs are a bit akimbo, probably from being in a cage. But, she has become such a little lover. She now insists on being pet, before she would get tense when we touched her.
It's also believed she was debarked. She just makes a raspy "bark" when she tries and you can't even hear it if you close the door. She is very reactive to children's voices, strange noises, and many other things. We're working on it though. We can now interrupt the behavior, if not totally stop it yet. We feel we are just the luckiest people in the world for finding her!
