We went for several months w/o letting the new addition sleep in our bed it was a combo of didn't think the puppy could hold it all night and needing to let our big girl know she was still our baby. The turn of events between the dogs took place on their own. My female is more then happy to hand things over to the puppy she spoils him all on her own. She lets him eat first and even sits back and allows him to rush to us first. She knows shes still our special girl and doesn't seam to be put out at all. We waited 5 years before I got the want another dog itch.

The first week was tuff. My older dog wanted to play with the puppy and I was afraid he was too small. But by week two they were playing tag and hide and go seek. Now you can't separate them w/o there being issues. Sugar my female has depression when my male goes to the groomers or the vet w/o her.
We have decided to wait another month or so before introducing a second dog. If we get a rescue, I'm sure we can set up a play date first. I'm sure that Cooper would love to play with a new dog, at least for a little while. I know we'll have to be very patient. I'm spending time researching and listening to everyone's stories so that I am completely ready....
