Well I was told that they remember on sight..and I think that may be right...
Also tones of the voice etc. We have some friends who we don't see very often but when I mention their names Dustie runs to the door to see if they are there...!! I also think they remember people by association..i.e. if someone walks them..and you say walkies they will look for that person etc.
My Yorkies were always like that...Dustie has yet to get to that stage really..
