I wouldn't take the puppy back. Giardia is easy to get rid of. It is a 5 day treatment of medication and that's it.
Giardia can be picked up anywhere at any time. It can be dropped in your yard by other animals, and by bird poop. They can get it from drinking from a stream or puddle.
Pennie had it when we got her, she got very sick because it took awhile to find it. If you get a neg, wait a week and have her poo tested again. Make sure it is sent out to a lab and not just looked at through a scope by the vet, they cannot tell from doing that.
Then you give them fenbendazole (panacur) for 5 days. The reason your puppy is having hypoglycemia problems is most likely because of the giardia. The pup is not getting proper nutrition because of the nasty parasites.
