Default Wiping hind feet on my bed

My Tootsie has all of a sudden started wiping her hind feet and barking at any noise in the house. She only does this when she is on my bed or on the couch. She will jump up from a dead sleep and run to the end of the bed, barking and scratching her hind feet on the bed. Although cute, it scares the bajeebies out of me at night. I am sure this is some sort of new sign for dominance. She is very social and does not snap or bite and minds really well too.

She has slept with me since she was 6 months old and has always slept through the night. Only recently has she developed this behavior.

I wonder if she thinks it's her job to protect me LOL She is as big as a peanut. Is there something I can do to stop this behavior?
