I always prefer to have more than one animal. Right now we have two house rabbits which keep Tilly company when we can't take her with us (not often right now). But when we move to a bigger house in a couple of years we'll be getting another dog for company.
And you'll have the 'should I? Shouldn't I?' debate with yourself right until you've done it, lol. But you will do it and, after the first few days thinking 'what have I done?!' you'll be really glad you did it. Dogs are pack animals after all.
