One potato chip is 150 calories. I don't give him potato chips, but she was giving me an example. Plus, the food I give him I need to cut back and give him less. He gets a lot of activity: walks once a day and/or plays ball, and agility once a week (he did great tonight). So, what issues of this have you dealt with your dog(s) on~? |
While I don't believe in giving potato chips, one chip isn't 150 calories, it's closer to 15, but way too much salt for a dog. Cheerios are a fine treat, just because they are small, dogs don't mind the fact that something is tiny. I agree with Ellie May thawed frozen green beans make great low calorie treats and dogs love them! Joey needed to diet after a tricks training class, and the vet said to reduce his food by 1/3 and replace with about 5 frozen green beans. The canned kind has too much salt. The green beans help feel them up, so they don't miss the food so much. Now I'm able to train with either the green beans or his regular kibble.
