Yorkies and other toy breed dogs can have a problem with retained baby teeth. They will not fall out on their own and they need to have them extracted. If they aren't, they can cause bite problems and abscesses which can spread to the adult teeth.

Vets usually remove any retained baby teeth during the spay or neuter. That way, they only need the one anesthesia plus it is much less expensive.
