While my web site may be slightly out of date as the result of my waiting for a heart transplant and not being as active in the show circuit as I have been in the past, those that continue to be listed on my web site are no less reputable than they were previously. Just the fact that they're still breeding gives them, if nothing else, more experience than those that have popped up since Yorkies became so popular in the last several years. Popularity of a breed always brings with it unscrupulous breeders that are more concerned with the income the puppies produce rather than the quality and health of the puppies.

Since I've been so sick I have added very few new breeders because of my inability to check the voracity of the information required to honor their request to be added. Nobody is added until I'm able to check their references and contact their vet and others that can verify the info they've submitted to me. I've also prominently placed a statement on each breeder page that says: NOTE !!! Currently I'm not accepting any additional breeder listings... Once my health improved that may change but not now. If I get an inquiry about someone not listed I'll do my best to research the breeder and email them with what I was able to find.

YES, I'm a YTCA member and proud of it, but that has never and will never be only criteria I use for adding a reference to a breeder. I could make reference to several that ARE listed that are not YTCA members but instead of me taking on this monumental task I'll just refer to Ana Diaz, a Police Officer in Worcester, MA, who is just a hobby breeder. I could also list some YTCA members I've removed because of unethical or dishonest behavior. My web site started long before I became a YTCA member!!! I think I'm one of just a few YTCA members that doesn't breed, doesn't show, and doesn't sell Yorkies and I never have! My only concern is for the love of the breed, to weed out uncrupulous breeders, promote Yorkie health, and inform those looking to adopt a healthy Yorkie puppy.

I also take exception to anyone who denigrates my intent and then puts up a web site that takes money for advertising breeders such as:

"YTCEHB, respect for differences, ethics without politics
www.yorkshireterrierclub.com"

I've never taken one cent from any breeder for space on my web site. I've refused all money offered for any advertising on my web site. Links for products on my links page are only for products that I actually use!!!

Originally my web site was on Geocities servers until the ads for puppies impinged on the purpose for my web site. At that time I PAID for server space that insures there will be NO advertising. That holds true for my Yorkies.com, Livershunt.net, and Camelot Yorkies Web Ring and my weekly Yorkies Chat Room on Tuesday nights.. I always remain available to answer questions and anyone can contact me directly, at any time by going to any page on my web site and clicking on the "Contact ME" button or using the following link http://yorkies.us/home/indexpage.html

I know Steve Glass did a lot of wonderful work to call attention to liver shunt and to advance research and treatment. He has shown extraordinary dedication to the breed. However, I find his breeder directory to be out-of-date and his criteria for accepting listings unfair. I've heard various things, including that he only accepts YTCA member who bile acid test their puppies. Be careful about leaning too heavily on one source of advice or information, and don't be shy about asking a breeder for references from their vet, several happy customers, and even other breeders.
Good luck!!!
