Thanks for the helpful comments everyone! You've confirmed that it is still a possibility that he will go tan after the silver/gray. And Manolos Mom - yes, he is tied out with a 15 foot leash, but only when we are with him (playing, doing yardwork, etc.). I'm aware of the hawk dangers, and one of us is always right with him - but thank you for the heads up
