Brandy's Mom-

I am so sorry to hear about your baby. Sushi has gone through four rounds (one per month since diagnosis) of a chemo-type drug and has been on Prednisone also. She was showing great improvment and it is not until this week that she has started "slipping and sliding" a bit. Our vet has reduced her to only two half pills of Prednsione weekly and I am worried that may not be enough. We are trying to reduce her meds since the side effects have been somewhat problematic. All things considered, I am fine with her chasing the cat and being aggressive and having some accidents in the house, but the ideal would be to have her off the meds. My vet has only told me that this is a progressive illness. He really doesn't know much about it. I asked lots of questions at our last appoinment, but he really could not tell me what might come next or how she will do. I believe in my daughter's thoughts that miracles happen. I wish you the best and our hearts and prayers go out to you. If you would like me to get the name of the chemo treatment that has been used, please let me know. I have a neighbor whose dog was diagnosed 2 years ago and a friend's vet said he had heard of only one case, but that dog lived for seven years... My vet did not think that Sushi would still be with us at this point. Try to stay positive! I know how hard it is to get this type of news!!! I have not been online for awhile due to the illness and passing of my father-in-law and just checked the forum today for the first time in at least two months... I think I was meant to respond to you post!

Hugs,
Sushi's Mom
