If by "burning up" you mean panting a lot, that is perfectly normal for a new mom to do (hormones I believe) and you will see her do off and on for a couple of days or so. Do not have a fan running or the pups may get chilled and a chilled puppy can go downhill fast! They need to be kept out of drafts and stay warm as they can not regulate their body temp for a couple of weeks. Have a heating pad on one side of their box and the other side without, so that mom has a place to go to get away from it when she wants to. Also make sure she has access to plenty of fresh water to drink at all times. If you have any other questions or concerns, just ask. You've come to the right place. |
I agree with the above. Also, you should be taking your momma's temperature and if you mean literally burning up as in a high temp, I suggest you get her to the vet as this could be serious. But if she is panting a lot with a normal temp, I would not be too concerned.
