That is the perfect response in my opinion. Because even if she said no I am not embarrassed you could have responded....Me either.
I personally don't put dresses on my dogs because I don't prefer them and they don't like it, but that is my personal opinion and I get a kick out of some of the little gear that I see. I have occassionally done something cute for a picture. It isn't my business what you do with your dog as long as you are not abusing them and I don't think that is considered abuse!
So if you come up to me being rude you will most likely get my version of "it's none of your business, get your own life".
