I just think it's important to remember that many groups would like to see breeding rights done away with, and if there is any chance something could go wrong with this type of procedure, it might be best to privately PM the person, so that you know exactly if the person has understood the proper procedure. I've read so many times that the dewclaws have grown back, so I know the procedure isn't foolproof. Also, if they have to have the dewclaws removed as an adult it's much more serious. There have also been numerous threads of dogs ripping off dewclaws after they got snagged on something, again, this could be dangerous, and very painful. So, unless a person does it right, the dewclaw has a very good chance of causing later problems, although I'm not sure some breeders care about this. |
