Honestly Harwin has a very fun shopping center(huchy momma outfits). It's first time I hear Harwin it's dangerous, maybe Sharpstown area I can believe that. Schlitterbahn (in Galveston) is also great. A must see mall is the Galleria one of the biggest malls you'll see. If your interested in the night live I recommend Midtown. Do you know what part of Houston you want to stay at? Westchase rates might be a little cheaper than Galleria area and you will still be close to everything near downtown.

. Do you have kids? Instead of Kemah I would say Moody gardens if you do. Ok i just saw no kids, still nice.
