No they are not owned by diamond, they have their own plants.. you can watch a video on thier website. Merrick is a good company. Thier foods are considered 5 stars. I did have my dogs on their food and they liked it but they did have some issues nothing major. We did also try whole earth line and they liked it but they had real strong "doggy ordor" while on it so I took them off it. Other than that, I think its a good food for the price.
