Tuffy is our 1st furkid & he'd had some work on basic stuff when we got him...stay & up he knew real well & sit (if he felt like it). We decided to use just 1 word commands if we could. When you ask your pup to sit it's easy to then get them to lay down if you are lower than they are (edge of a footstool or other low to the ground platform) as you lower the treat in a closed downward hand & say lay. After they've mastered lay down getting them to roll over just requires you to physically roll them over (it make take a few times but you'll be very suprised how fast they get it) while you use your hand with the treat to show them the motion & say roll.
