We have had no issues with her other then the barking and sometimes growling at a couple of the dogs who bug her.. So I guess right now we are handling her other issues by avoidance.
I am a homebody.. I don't have many people over and so maybe that is why she does so well here?? Verses what happened with the lady I placed her with who worked full-time and then took her out to that great big scary world.
I have no doubt she was not properly socialized when she was a pups. then went into a home where again she had no socialization..Except with whoever was mean to her, and probably her mistress was her only solid person.
Then she was put with us. And it was comfortable because I am a homebody with very few people coming in, and the ones who do, are male friends of hubby and son..LOL
So again, not enough outside socialization, and within her comfort zone of her whole life.
I know I did that with my first yorkie, Kizzie and she is afraid of people who come over and barks like mad and runs away. My mistake. and one which I don't want to ever make again and moving Mindy again I think would just be cruel.
BUT...I will be doing something to help her and i will get her out more. And as my back can handle it I will start walking all of my dogs, even if it is only a block.
I know Hanna my 9 year old cocker absolutely LOVES our short walk to the mail box every day. She trots right near me and really loves going out. I always thought just having that huge back yard to run and play in was enough. I realize now it isn't.
I can see Hanna seems more cheerful after we come back from the mail box
I truly believe dogs pick their favorite people, they have a comfort zone just like us. And because of my life style I believe she has picked us and while maybe dogs do things on purpose I know they learn if they do this, then that will happen.. Both times re-homed by me she got to come back. Only she knows what she did to get send back. It could of been anything.
I love Mindy so if that is what she wants, to be here, then hell, I see no reason for her not to.. Well except the over the limit thing but they don't check so i am not going to concern myself with that right now.
