Out of my three (two yorkies, one chihuahua), Addie, our first yorkie, wouldn't eat out of a bowl. I had to hand feed her for awhile. I started mixing her dry food with a bit of wet food and she started eating out of her bowl. I would handfeed and gradually get my hand closer to the bowl until she just started taking pieces out on her own.

I did get the cute little bowls. Just make sure they have a low rim. Like someone else said, having a set of dishes for your little one will work too. I know people who feed their babies off of plates, one of the pups (not a yorkie) is 20 plus pounds and he won't eat out of a bowl. It does seem yorkies naturally prefer to be handfed.

Addie was probably about 7-8 months old before she started eating out of a bowl on a regular basis. She still insists on taking out some of the food and eating it off the carpet though.
