My daughter has a Shih-Tzu that was plagued with allergies for several years. He would scratch his face raw. Changing to a dog food with no grains has been like getting a new dog. He would have raw, weeping, open sores not only around his face but all over his body. He has not had a sore since. As someone who suffers from inhalant allergies personally, I do know that removing foods that trigger allergies helps me with my hayfever, as it just gives your body less of a challenge to deal with. I would certainly give it a try, it can't hurt to try.
