Dolce,
I'm not sure how big your crate is but dogs usually will not go where they sleep. So perhaps your puppy is confused with the pad being in his crate and he got use to it and doesn't realize he need to go on the pad outside the crate because he associates it with where he sleeps.????
Also, if your puppy is confined most of the day without being able to play he may wake and want to play more at night. I use a gate on the bathroom with pee pad and lots of toys or pig ears for him to chew.
Also i don't leave food down all the time for the puppies i know some people may not agree with this but i feed them two times a day 6pm and 6am. This has them on a schedule of sleeping, eating and going potty. Just try things and see what works best for your puppy. If you start putting your puppy in bed with you they will want to do that. If this is something you don't want to do. Try putting the crate by your bed with an old shirt of yours in it. If the puppy wakes and cries put your hand down by the crate and just say No... Good luck it does take a lot of time but the rewards will be wonderful. |
