It certainly sounds like you know the right thing to do... it is really in her best interest to be spayed now.
If you and your BF really want to breed in the future, you always have the option of finding a mentor and starting that process later. Also at 10 1/2 months she may never get any bigger and never be a suitable dog to breed.
