The yard is small so we don't let grass grow, we just keep it raked and mulched. These little mushrooms are so tiny I don't know if I can find them! He sniffed them out and pulled them up by the roots and took off running! I looked around and didn't find any that I could see....they had brown tops.

My husband took a picture of a lizard sunning in the yard yesterday, scary looking creature. It must have been 8 inches long with a red funny looking comb like thing. The neighbors said they live under their shed and aren't poisonous.

As for the hawk, I never leave him outside alone. Even at night I can hear owls, I know they fly without making noise. The little guy only weighs 4.5 lbs....so I never let my guard down there.

Snakes, yes, are another concern. My husband killed a nice sized coral snake by the outside faucet last summer. That's why we try to keep the vegetation to a minimum other than the flower beds we have.
