I'm sorry you lost those pics. But, please don't be mad at her, she had no idea what she was doing. Keep that stuff out of her reach!

I never thought about backing up my pics until three years ago. I got an ipod and I put all of my music CD's (over 200 of them) on my computer, and it was so much work that I knew I didn't want to lose all of that, as well as all of my photos. So I got an external back up drive, and I back up every night. Whenever I take digital photos, I transfer them to the computer for storage and erase the camera's digital card, then the photos get backed up to the external drive at night.

An external drive with tons of storage is cheap right now (<$100), so it is a very good investment because all computers crash sooner or later.
