I would love to have a very tiny little Yorkie - but mine is going to be bigger, and he is going to be better off for it. Already his very best friend and playmate is a 21-pound Bichon that he plays with constantly. Surprisingly though, at only 4 1/2 pounds now, he really holds his own. In fact, he won't quit, and I think my Bichon gets tired first.
When I got my little pup, they said he would probably be between 5 and 10 pounds, but I'll bet he might be bigger than that. He's 3 month's old and weighs just under 5 pounds now ---so maybe 10 or a little more would be a good guess. Only time will tell.
By the way - my Yorkie loves little children more than anything else in the world. He will just play his heart out with little children --especially if they are lying on the floor so that he can get to their faces and kiss and lick and jump all over them. He thinks he has died and gone to heaven.
The gentleman (bad choice of words) you visited with was certainly ignorant about Yorkies. And, yes, I and my Yorkie would certainly stay out of his way. You should have asked one of the little boys their name - "whole name and where they lived.....just in general conversation. Your knowing this information might have made the man a little reluctant to try anything.
Sounds like you survived -- and that is good.
