Brandi was doing this too. I keep her in a 4x4 pen during the day while I'm at work. She pretty much has the same setup as your little one. She would do the same thing, basically stepping in her poop when she get excited to see me and smearing everywhere in her xpen.

I didn't do anything special, just one day she stopped stepping in her poop. I think what happen was she started to associate getting a semi bath almost everyday to wipe the poop off her paws with stepping in her poop and she just stopped. When she didn't smear poop all over the place, I didn't have to wipe her down. I think she figured out what was happening. She hated having to get wet almost everyday. I haven't had to wipe her down now in almost two months. It's great not having to come home and clean her and then the xpen.
