I am a draftsperson for a geotechnical engineering consulting firm. I got a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology a few years ago and I've been at the same company ever since. I'm possibly looking for somewhere new to work since I am now the head of the drafting department... also known as the ONLY drafter! So things can get pretty stressful when there's 20+ engineers handing me work with tight deadlines

I have spent whole nights at work, not leaving my desk from 8am until 6am the next morning! So it gets quite stressful at times, but it pays the bills!
I do find the work very interesting though. I basically get a design from an engineer and draw it in 3d on my computer to show them and our clients what this is going to look like in real life after construction (roads, landfills, lagoons, berms, etc!), or get land surveys to show what is already there (for drainage studies or environmental impacts)
