Most definitely repost in the health forum. Was her Creatinine, which is kidney specific, also high? Zipp's are inching upward but his could be from old age as he is 15+ according to the Ohio rescue group I adopted him from. There are several Yahoo groups that are very supportive of canine kidney diseases. See what could have caused the BUN to be elevated. Was Layla dehydrated from not drinking much water in prep for surgery. You may want to have the vet do another BUN in a few days when she could be more hydrated.
I can look for the yahoo groups but in the meantime have the vet redo the BUN and Creatinine tests if at all possible.
Keep us posted. Both Harley D and DJ died from kidney diseases.
