We just got back from Savannah GA. We took Mabel with us and it was a nightmare! We got thrown off a trolley( well, not actually thrown off but asked to get off politely!) Anyway, it was not a very pleasant experience...We had to eat in shifts so some one could sit outside with Mabel. Rest areas where you would think of as pet friendly were not... Tall grass with sticker bushes in designated potty areas! Not many restaurants have outside eating spots. And in the hotel we stayed in(Homewood Suites) although advertised as "pet friendly" would not allow her in the lobby because they had food there. I just do not understand why there are not more places where dogs are welcome? I suppose i should have done more research. I do understand that not everyone apprechiates my dog as i do but honestly i do not see why well behaved dogs are not allowed in more places. I guess health codes prohibit it. I must say that the general public was great...Miss mabel was quite popular everywhere we went! Oh yeah, be sure to check if beach allows pets. Tybee Island does not. I hope all my ranting has not discouraged you! Even tho it was lots of trouble i would take her again just to have her company...the hassle was worth it! And as you probably have found out...Every one you meet has either owned a yorkie or knows some who does! As a matter of fact at the hotel there were 4 yorkies staying there! maybe those folks had less trouble than we did!
