Family unit, manners, etc were still alive and well.  There was certain rules on what was right and what was wrong.   LOL I think we are on the same page about this.  I don't know about you but I had an entire neighborhood full of "parents" with eyes in the back of their heads.  You couldn't get away with much in those days.  Moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas sat on their front porch in the evenings and watched the neighborhood kids.  If one parent saw you doing something wrong, they would "scold you", send you home where your mom and dad would be waiting with a hickory 'cause they had gotten a phone call. 
Those were the good ole days.
