I honestly believe that the "Steel" in Steel Magnolia referred to the color of their hair - Steel Blue - earned with age. Funny thing isn't Steel Blue what we would expect to see in a properly coated Yorkie. Anyway, those Steel Magnolias had grown up, had been taught to respect their elders, and as they aged they had "earned" the respect of the youngsters.
