it was funny tonight because about an hour after i last read this thread - my husband had come home from work (and i hadn't mentioned anything - i don't talk to him about online convos)
and he said, "yeah, i had my eye on this old truck and my friend knows the guy who owns it so he was supposed to ask about it. well, we were over at his house and the truck was gone - he'd already sold it!"
then he said, "i asked the guy - just out of curiosity, how much did you let it go for?"
the guy answered, "he offered me 500 bucks and i jerked his arm off" and then went on to tell him how it was smoking really bad, blah blah blah.
it was just funny he mentioned it after this conversation. come to think of it - i had a coversation a few days ago with a group of strangers about power bills - we were all talking about how much ours was, etc.
i personally think it is somewhat geographical. i don't do this if my children are with me - but if they aren't, we'll pull over and give someone a ride who is walking. i used to do it all the time before i had kids. there are certain places i don't think anyone would ever do that - heck, there are places where people never take their eyes off the ground.
it's just interesting.
and to the person who said some would find this thread alone offensive - i thought that was a possibility - and i was shocked that it didn't turn into a tomato throwing fest - me being the target!
