I have never used Advocate but I have used Frontline on my Chihuahua's and everytime I do one of my dogs does the same thing you mentioned. He gets a little frenzied, jumps up and down, rolls around and acts like something is bugging him. I have checked his skin and it doesn't welp or get red or anything but he obviously does not like it. I tried a different brand last time and it was a little better but he still didn't love it.
The vet couldn't see anything wrong and said he was unfamiliar with that reaction and didn't know a reason for it, but one of my dogs certainly reacts to it.
