I have them and they work good but I will tell you from experience that the dogs will not always use them.... sometimes they just jump off the bed without them... luckily mine CAN jump off without getting hurt and the stairs are just to relieve impact on the joints... so a few times wont kill them.

I personally wouldnt use them if the dog couldnt get down on their own.
