One of my yorkies has a championship background, show quality, etc...but still it simply would be unheard of for her to be offered for sale, in my particular area, at some of the higher prices I've seen in listed by SOME breeders in SOME areas of the country, including the northwest. That is not to say ALL Washington state breeders sell their Yorkies lower than other parts of the country...that was simply an observation about my particular area. How far my particular area is in that regard I don't know. It could be a 50 mile radius, it could be 200 miles... I was not lumping every breeder on the west coast into one category. It seemed pretty clear to me at the time, but maybe I wasn't clear - sorry.
Oh, that is okay. When I was looking into getting my first show dogs - all the breeders I was checking into and buying from all had the same price (and contracts) and it was all over. So to say prices are different is not always true.

I know when we go to Wal-Mart their prices are different from city to city even. If I go to a bigger town virses country - the city Wal-Mart is higher priced. We even noticed this with 40 min of them apart. Weird, but true.

I have given away yorkie pups before to people I know very well and would make great parents. Depends though on situation. I gave one to a very close co-worker I knew for years and then gave one to my daughter. Giving them away did not make the pup less quality or less valued. Like I said it all depends on the specific situations. Then if someone saw what I did - they might make a generalization that show/ehibitors give their dogs away. And that is just not aways the case.
