I just want the OP to see both sides of the other thing. Not all of us (generally speaking) use pain to help us keep our pups quiet. Some of us would rather take the risk and medicate to keep the dog comfy. Of course that depends on the problem, the length of time that pain is going to be involved, etc. |
yes you can mix nsaids and tramadol for extra pain relief and you can mix tramadol with steroids but you are NEVER suppose to mix nsaids with steroids or your dog can get ulcers and i am lucky dd did not as she vomitted after first dose and i stopped immediately after that but she was sick for along time after and had to take her to internal medicine specialist as she would not stop vomitting up her food - it was HORRIBLE.
I just think people rush to quickly for pain meds for a dog when they would not do the same type of pain med for themselves and this breed has a lot of intestinal issues like ibd and you are to NEVER give a dog with IBD nsaids as that is a disaster as well per internal medicine. Also vets many times do not tell clients the side effects nor tell them how to administer and do not give out the client sheet so a client knows what all is involved. I am on a yahoo groups regarding nsaids and it is not pretty when things go bad with these drugs so i feel very strongly about them especially since i saw what they did to my dog on one dose. I would hate to not warn someone and then something happen as better to make an informed decision.
would you take an nsaid if you sprained your ankle as humans can take nsaids as well? I wouldn't
