So if a child was in pain and a parent wanted them to slow down, pain meds would be withheld? I've heard this theory many times, but I can't imagine letting my doggie stay in pain unless a serious medical issue (like LS) made pain meds for dangerous... |
i look at it like if you sprained your ankle you do not take pain killers for that and an acl rupture is painful only when the injury happens as i ruptured my achilles tendon personally and the initial injury is when it hurts after that no pain - I just think in the vet profession they are way too quick to give pain meds unlike with humans. Sometimes the pain killers can do more damage than a little pain making them rest as did with my dee dee she was sick for a month from metacam and it took me a long time to get her balanced again with no diarrhea too - never had an issue with tramadol in any of my dogs and they have health issues - much safer than nsaids - I will NEVER EVER use NSAIDS again after what i went through - they are just not safe in my opinion. They can perforate a human bowel so imagine what they can do to a 7lb dog
