It does go away in many doggies. My Meika threw up every time, about 45 min. into a trip, for her first year then stopped. What helped her was being up high enough to see out, and I wish I had gotten a car seat.

What I did was unsafe and I don't recommend it while driving; I held her on my lap, and lifted her up periodically to look out, and kept stroking her to get her to relax.

In the meantime, don't feed them within a few hours of driving, and of course carry lots of towels, or pee pads, wipies, and a change of clothes for yourself.
