I was walking Magnus this evening and along the way, a car pulled in front of the house (I assume it's her house). Magnus still being a puppy and haven't been socialized too much is pretty much interested in EVERYTHING. So he watch as two dogs that jumped out of the car.
The first thing that came to my attention was that neither dog had leashes on. We were across the street from them, I thought it'd be safe enough to let Magnus just watch. But I wasn't TOO comfortable so decided to keep an eye on them myself while making sure my pup wouldn't start barking at them either.
I noticed one of the dog looking straight at us and I didn't like his/her stance. Looked a lot like the form a dog would take before launching an attack. So I was about to move along when in a blink of an eye, that dog was sprinting across the street coming straight towards us. Well, not so much me but Magnus.
It was obvious outrunning that dog was not possible so I grabbed Magnus to keep him safe in my arms. The dog was able to grab one of Magnus's hind paw but I smacked his nose to get it loose. Luckily, Magnus didn't suffer any injuries. But that dog kept trying to get to my pup. I ended up having to lift Magnus over my head to make sure he was safe as well and tried to keep my back towards the attack while being tugged down by the other dog.
The owner (I think the dog that attacked us wasn't hers) came rushing over and grabbed the dog and apologized profusely. After checking Magnus, I said it was okay but if she was even a split second late, I would've kicked that dog really hard or something as s/he was a pretty big dog and I think I'm lucky s/he didn't actually hurt me during the ordeal.
What would you guys do in that sort of situation? I guess a better question would be what are you suppose to do?

I don't want to hurt anyone whether it be human or animal but I'd be damned if I let anything happen to my little runt.
