I've actually never made a profit at any time. I can't take off work for any length of time but I am lucky that my husband works only a mile from the house. I try and plan litters around the time I will have time off since I work at the schools.
When I do have a litter it's always going towards the showing expenses I have. As Mary pointed out I have had 2 specials in the ring and that is a major expense within itself and alot of weekends away from home if I'm doing it myself. When I had my bitch out as a special and was the #1 yorkie bitch in breed in 05 I paid a handler but I traveled with her and was out almost every weekend. And then Radar was out as a special in 08 and was the #5 yorkie in the country and I had to pay the handler $800 a month on top of the entry fees and then the extra shows that I had to fly her to a specialty in WA. Whewwwwwww so much involved LOL
